Hubs can make organizing your workspace a lot easier for laptop users. One of CalDigit’s focuses is on such devices, and the company has just announced two new Thunderbolt 5-enabled hubs, the TS5 and TS5 Plus.
The smaller CalDigit TS5 model is equipped with a total of 15 ports. The front side has two slots for microSD and SD USH-II memory cards, two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports with support for 7.5- and 20-watt charging of gadgets, as well as a combined 3.5-mm Jack. At the back is one Thunderbolt 5 port with support for charging power up to 140 W, three more with 15 W (i.e., a total of four Thunderbolt 5 ports), USB-C 3.2 Gen2, USB-A 3.2 Gen2, USB-A 2.0, 2.5-gigabit Ethernet and two more 3.5-mm Jacks (input/output).
The “older” version of the CalDigit TS5 Plus has 20 ports, some of which are also more powerful. So, on the front of this station you can find an additional USB-A 3.2 Gen2 port, and one of the USB-C supports up to 36 W. On the back, DisplayPort 2.1, faster 10-gigabit Ethernet, four USB-A 3.2 Gen2, a pair of Thunderbolt 5 with 36 W, and three more USB-C 3.2 Gen2 (7.5 W each) have also been added.
In both cases, there is the ability to connect up to two monitors with a maximum resolution of up to 8K at 60 Hz (or more monitors with a lower resolution and higher refresh rate), Boost Mode up to 120 Gbps, security locks, and vertical or horizontal installation is provided.
The CalDigit TS5 costs $370 and the hub will go on sale in May, while the CalDigit TS5 Plus will cost $500 and will go on sale by the end of April.
