VERNON CO., Mo. — One suspect is arrested in a Vernon County scam investigation.
On April 3, a citizen reported to the sheriff’s office that they lost around $40,000 to a scam.
Vernon County deputies and Nevada police officers say they arrested Bhagya Patel on Saturday.

Patel is being held on a $200,000, cash-only bond, pending formal charges of money laundering.
FOUR STATES CRIME…
Deputies say they recovered about $37,000, and the investigation is ongoing as they look for more suspects.
The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office is reminding citizens to watch out for calls or texts asking them for sensitive personal and banking information, or demanding payments to resolve legal issues.
