Six months after announcing it — and years after locals began clamoring for it — Go Chicken Go has opened its first Northland outpost.
The restaurant, a former Taco Bueno at 380 NE Vivion Road, is also the Kansas City-based fried chicken joint’s first new location in 25 years.
Technically, the grand opening is Thursday, but a soft launch, open to all fans of gizzards, livers and G-sauce, is already underway. On Tuesday at 3 p.m., the drive-thru line was 15 cars deep, with another dozen customers lined up inside.
Go Chicken Go is now open at 380 NE Vivion Road.
The Northland location is the sixth for the chain, which was founded in 1969 by Bill and Mary Hendrix inside a Go Gas service station at 7th Street and Kansas Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas. Today, it has four locations in Wyandotte County, one on Troost Avenue and one in Olathe.
Hours at the Northland restaurant are Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
