Pursuit of Wisconsin vehicle with no headlights going 100+ mph ends with crash, search for suspect in cemetery

MONONA, Wis. (WFRV) – After a pursuit of a suspect who was driving at dangerous speeds with no headlights on in Wisconsin, the driver was arrested for OWI and threatening to kill officers.

Around 2:10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, an officer with the Monona Police Department saw a vehicle heading west on Hwy 12 with no headlights at speeds of nearly 100 mph. However, the officer was not able to pursue the driver, so they radioed the information to dispatch.

Shortly after, someone called Dane County 911 to report a vehicle with no headlights further west on Hwy 12 between Todd Drive and Seminole Hwy.

Monona PD then got word that the suspect vehicle was heading east back into Monona. Officers again spotted the driver as he reentered Monona at more than 100 mph, still without headlights.

The driver, later identified as 27-year-old Rojae A. Crosse of Sun Prairie, reportedly refused to stop at the officers’ commands. A rather lengthy pursuit then began throughout the Monona area.

While southbound on Marsh Road in McFarland, Crosse went off the road on a turn and drove into a small cemetery, colliding with multiple gravestones. Crosse then immediately fled on foot.
